How to Measure for Scrubs

Grab a soft tape measure and a friend, or simply take measurements from a well-fitting garment you already own. Either way, your GEGIX scrubs will be cut to your exact body.

Before You Start

  • Use a soft fabric tape measure, not a metal one
  • Wear fitted clothing — not bulky layers
  • Stand naturally — don't suck in or puff out
  • Keep the tape snug but not tight
  • It helps to have a friend take the measurements
  • Write down each number as you go — you'll enter them into your body profile

Scrub Tops

For scrub tops and jackets, take these six measurements:

  1. Chest — Measure around the fullest part of your chest, just under the armpits and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level all the way around.
  2. Shoulder Width — Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, across the back. The tape should follow the natural curve of your shoulders.
  3. Sleeve Length — Start at the shoulder seam, run the tape down the outside of your arm to the wrist bone. Keep your arm slightly bent and relaxed.
  4. Bicep Circumference — Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm. This ensures the sleeves fit comfortably without being too tight or too loose.
  5. Torso Length — Measure from the highest point of your shoulder (near the neck) down to your natural waistline. This ensures the top hits at the right length.
  6. Waist — Measure around your natural waistline, about 1–2 inches above your belly button. This helps us tailor the fit through the midsection.

Scrub Pants

For scrub pants and joggers, take these six measurements:

  1. Waist — Measure around your natural waistline — the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button. Keep one finger between the tape and your skin.
  2. Hips — Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, about 7–9 inches below your waist. Make sure the tape is parallel to the floor.
  3. Inseam — Measure from the crotch seam down the inside of your leg to the desired hem length. Stand with feet slightly apart for accuracy.
  4. Rise — Measure from the front waistline, through the crotch, to the back waistline. This determines how the pants sit on your body — crucial for comfort during long shifts.
  5. Thigh Circumference — Measure around the fullest part of your thigh, just below the crotch. This ensures the pant leg isn't too tight or too baggy through the thigh.
  6. Calf Circumference — Measure around the widest part of your calf. Important for a clean fit, especially with jogger-style scrub pants.

Lab Coats

Lab coats are designed to fit over your scrubs, so take these measurements over a scrub top or fitted garment for the most accurate fit:

  1. Chest — Measure around the fullest part of your chest over your usual scrub top. This ensures the lab coat has enough room to layer comfortably.
  2. Shoulder Width — Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the other across the back, over a scrub top to account for the extra layer.
  3. Sleeve Length — Start at the shoulder seam and measure down the outside of your arm to the wrist bone. Lab coat sleeves are typically slightly longer than scrub sleeves.
  4. Bicep Circumference — Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm over your scrub. This ensures enough room for movement without the coat feeling restrictive.
  5. Coat Length — Measure from the highest point of your shoulder down to your desired hem. Typical lab coat lengths range from mid-thigh to just above the knee.
  6. Waist — Measure around your natural waistline over your scrubs. This helps us tailor the coat's silhouette through the midsection for a professional look.
