The Case for Separates: Why Mix-and-Match Beats Sets
Share
Many people assume custom means a full set. But the smartest approach is: custom top plus standard bottom.
Why the top matters more:
The fit that truly affects comfort is the top. Shoulder width, bust, arm length, torso length - these vary enormously between individuals.
An ill-fitting top means carrying that discomfort for twelve hours. Pants are far more forgiving - most have elastic or drawstring waistbands, and hems can be rolled.
Three reasons to buy separates:
- Different wear rates: Tops wear out faster than pants (more surface contact at the chest, more friction at cuffs). Buying separates means replacing independently.
- Color flexibility: Same-color tops and bottoms can be bought separately. Mix colors freely without being locked into a set.
- Cost optimization: If you have found pants that fit well, you don't need to give them up for a custom top. Custom the piece that matters most, and be flexible on the rest.
GEGIX's approach:
Made-to-Measure tops with the option of standard-size or custom pants. The principle: you should not be locked into a set.
